Scotchmer House

Scotchmer House, a single-fronted heritage cottage in Fitzroy North, has been meticulously transformed to blend historical charm with contemporary living. The project includes a two-storey rear extension, seamlessly connected by a glass link to a rear two-storey studio with laneway access.

The design reinterprets the existing cottage's form, featuring a white metal standing seam roof and wall cladding on the first floor. The rear laneway facade combines recycled brick found on-site with modern white metal mesh privacy screens and circular feature windows, adding a unique and modern touch.

Scotchmer House showcases a harmonious fusion of heritage architecture and innovative design, creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing living space that honours its historical essence while catering to modern needs.
